The Jockey Club Of Saudi Arabia
Organised horse racing in Saudi Arabia began in 1965 when the Equestrian Club of Riyadh was established, but the sport did not become an internationally-facing industry until 2020.
The first regulated races were held in the Malaz district of Riyadh in 1971 at a venue that hosted both camel and horse racing and where the JCSA still maintains a clubhouse to this day.
The present-day JCSA was founded in 2019 and, under the chairmanship of HRH Prince Bandar Bin Khalid Al Faisal, was charged with building on the momentum established over the preceding years to promote and grow Saudi Arabian horse racing at both international and domestic levels.
With specific developmental goals, such as the transition to a Part I country in the IFHA’s Blue Book, the JCSA now follows a long-term strategy mandated by Saudi Arabia’s Royal Court. Chief among these aims is to create a world-class, sustainable racing and equestrian industry that has a positive sporting, cultural, and economic impact at the domestic level while promoting Saudi Arabia internationally.
