Bruce is the managing director of the Cambridge thoroughbred stud Raffles Farm Raffles Farm. He studied as an accountant at Waikato University, obtaining a Bachelor of Management Studies, and worked in public practice before landing a broadcasting contract with the Macau Jockey Club. During his time there, he also worked for the Hong Kong Jockey Club before returning home. Bruce continues to broadcast part-time in New Zealand. Bruce was treasurer of the Cambridge Jockey Club for eleven years – the largest training centre in Australasia. He currently sits on the New Zealand Pattern Committee.
