The Group 1 Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner Criterion (NZ) is already in Newmarket after running third to Blazing Speed in the Group 1 Audemars Piguet QEII Cup at Sha Tin en-route.

There are four Kazuo Fujisawa trained entries from Japan; Group 1 winner Spielberg (JPN), Group 2 winner Lelouch (JPN), Pelusa (JPN) and Super Moon (JPN).

Spielberg won the Group 1 Tenno Sho (Autumn) in November, defeating Horse Of The Year Gentildonna, and he is set to meet Criterion in the Group 1 Prince Of Wales Stakes (2400m).

Also based in Newmarket are the Gai Waterhouse trained Group 1 Australian Guineas winner Wandjina (AUS), Chris Waller trained dual Group 1 winner Brazen Beau (AUS) and the Robert Smerdon trained Group 1 winner Shamal Wind.

From Hong Kong the John Moore trained Able Friend (AUS) tuned up for his flight to England with a trial over the turf at Sha Tin on last week.

The Longines current joint highest rated horse in the world won the Group 1 The Champions Mile at Sha Tin earlier in May, without Hong Kong’s leading jockey Joao Moreira fully extending the four-year-old Shamardal gelding.
