Dubday (GB) under Frankie Dettori recorded back to back victories in the Group 1 HH The Emir’s Trophy for Al Shaqab Racing on February 26th at the Qatar International Racing Festival.

Jumping from the widest barrier the son of Dubawi took some time to gather momentum, giving Dettori a few anxious moments, but in the end his class prevailed and he won by a neck from Ponfeigh (IRE), with Peter Anders (GB) a half-length back in third. The five year old, trained locally by Jazzim Al Ghazali, will most likely head to Dubai for the Dubai Gold Cup on World Cup night.

Al Shaqab recorded a quick double on the night as French raider Al Mourtazez and Julien Auge won the Arabian equivalent, the Group 1 HH The Emir’s Sword over 2400m. Trained by Thomas Fourcy, the five year old comfortably defeated local favourite and winner of the Qatar Arabian World Cup on Arc day, Djainka Des Forges by 1.5 lengths.
