The Magic Millions Yearling Sale early in January set an Australian record for a yearling by a new season sire when a colt by Golden Slipper winner Sepoy was sold for A$1.2 million.
The first foal of former outstanding racemare, Sister Madly, the colt was presented at the sale by Segenhoe Stud and after a fierce bidding battle was purchased by the US based Spendthrift Farm.
The strong sale saw 539 yearlings sold in the premier four sessions for just over A$92 million up from the 2014 figures of 521 yearlings for A$75 million. The average was A$170,728, up from the 2014 average of A$144,122. The clearance rate was 86%, just under the 2014 figure of 87%.
