Maurice won both the Japan Racing Association's Horse of the Year for 2015 and Best Sprinter or Miler award.
The Horse of the Year title is the highest honor given to JRA-registered race horses and is selected by the Horse of the Year Selection Committee represented by journalists of various dailies and magazines.
Maurice, a Hokkaido Summer Sale graduate, was sold at the Hokkaido 2yo Training Sale for approx. US$90,000. The winner of not only the Hong Kong Mile but the 2015 Group 1 Yasuda Kinen and Mile Championship in Japan the four-year-old Screen Hero entire has earned stakes in 2015 of 482,063,200 Yen.
“I wish to express, on behalf of Maurice, my thanks for having been recognized with such an award. And, I would like to express my appreciation foremost to trainer (Noriyuki) Hori and all those persons associated with Maurice," said owner Kazumi Yoshida.
Maurice's impressive victory in front of an international audience at Sha Tin and broadcast world-wide was franked for Japanese breeding and racing by A Shin Hikari (JPN) and Nuovo Record (JPN) finishing first and second in the Group 1 Longines Hong Kong Cup (2000m).
