New Zealand and Inner Mongolia joined forces in July with the inaugural running of the RMB500,000 New Zealand Bloodstock Cup (1800m) at Korchin in Inner Mongolia.

The new three-year-old race is a joint venture between bloodstock company New Zealand Bloodstock Ltd and Mr Lang Lin of the Inner Mongolia Rider Horse Club.

The race was won in fine style by Da Qian Shi Jie (NZ) (Keeper), the highest rated runner in the field, having won one of his two previous starts, and he proved his superiority with a breath-taking performance.

Ridden by the New Zealand jockey Alysha Collett for trainer Yu Jiankang, Da Qian Shi Jie raced in midfield before surging forward approaching the home turn and going clear of the field. It turned into a one-horse race down the straight as Da Qian Shi Jie opened up a winning margin of more than five lengths.

Little Bolt (NZ) (No Excuse Needed) finished second ahead of Meet By Chance (NZ) (Buffalo Man).
